Officer silk lining colors

Hello, I was wondering if anyone knows if the inside silk lining color has any significance? Does the colors goes with the states, or ranks, or something? Or is it just a manufacturer preference - for example I have noticed that Awes Marke uses a lot of green silk liners.

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Adam

Hi Adam: I have an article planned on the subject of officer liners which I will post shortly. I do not know if silk colour choices were part of the process of buying a private purchase haube. I would suspect, that on the more pricey models that there would have been choices of "colours". Colour had nothing to do with one's "State". There are also silk liners with metal cyphers attached plus gold initials stamped/painted on the cloth. These latter 2 are quite rare in my experience but I have seen 4-5 examples in my years of being a collector. I owned a Wurtt OYV private purchase helme which had gold Gothic style initials applied to the silk. Unfortunately, it had to be sold during my last marriage meltdown :( . PS...thanks again Adam for your recent donation.
