I have a helmet up for sale with a checkered past.
It is coming back to me because the plate was called a fake.
The collector whom I got it from is probably one of the most honest collectors and dealers in our hobby .
The story behind the plate is that it is a raw stamping and was never finished on the assembly line.
It was never been gilted or had the studs solderd on the back.
IT has nice crisp details and made out of brass NOT COPPER
I agree with the collector who I got it from as being original.

Presently it has a GALVO Ruess wappen on it
The helmet it is on is in very good shape.
The spike is missing it's retaining nut inside of the spike base.
This plate is a wild card if you have a correct wappen to put on it.
With the correct wappen , cocards and chinscales could be a $4,000 + helmet.
