Officially sealed pattern on Weitzes site

Just a short thought about terminology. Actually Muster corresponds more to the term pattern whereas Probe is normally used in the sense of a sample.

It seems logical to me that all Probes were initiated by the supplyers, who had to provide a sample of their work. If accepted, it would be tagged and sealed by the ministry (or BA) and the order could be conducted. In case the sample was found to be inadequate , they had the option to provide a second refined sample - the Nachprobe. If the later delivery did not match the sealed Probe/Nachprobe, it could be rejected.

Most tags on the pictures are Probes. The only Muster on the Bing helmet reveals by its wording that it does not come from the supplier ("Muster of the helmets to be provided by the company Bing..") which the other tags do not.

This is tough, but I think we're pretty close. Karel provided the example of the Bavarian felt. Here is a similar helmet, from page 87 of the Kraus book. I think that tag says about the same thing but they are different helmets. So I think Robert and Karel are pretty much saying the same thing. The official red tag was placed on the example when accepted by the BKA. Why then are some looking like they come from an Army Corps and others by the War minster?
