The photo was taken in Langensalza after July 1908. Officers were dressed in winter parade dress, all wore gauntlets, and polished helmets were against the regulations. They carry swords the same as those of cuirassier officers. The Paletot they wore had grey-green velvet collars with yellow piping which clearly visible in the photo.
Soldiers and officers having beverages in the field, photographed around late 1908. Note that the other ranks were mixed wearing the caps with both white and grey-green tops.

Hello Herr MLO,

These are very desirable photos.
I did not know polished helmets were against regulation for military parades.

Most enlisted men had helmets with a blued fiished
Some officers wore the same finish helmets
but most had a bright nickel finished ; thus "polished "

Interesting photo. The bandolier is not a JzPf bandolier, the officers helmet appears to have a line eagle, plus it looks like the vent hole on the spike is facing the front of the helmet. The 12thJzPf would have worn a dragoon helmet and no bandolier for enlisted ranks. I’m guessing the helmet and bandolier are photo studio accessories.

Here's a close up of the Paletot collar as you describe, plus the light green underlay, also the regulation helmet vs the "interim" polished helmet.
