Good day collegues,
What is your opinion about this item?any "red flags"?
Thanks for replies.

The condition of the centerwappen doesn't match the rest of the helmet, it even looks new or refinished... It also looks like an officers model on an enlisted men's haube...
All metal fittings seem to be polished or something, this doesn't give me the correct feeling...

Joe, you have to use the little scroll down thingie on the side of the photos, then there are interior shots. To me, it looks as if there's a bit of an imprint from a Bavarian plate, but it's very faint. Interesting markings, if I'm reading them correctly, infantry and field artillery. (?)

:D Ron

I don't understand either why this helmet has chinscales and, moreover, the markings don't seem to match the plate because IR18 was from Osterode located in Posen in Eastern Prussia which is consistent with the marking BAII (2nd armeekorps with its HQ in Stettin). However, I could offcourse be mistaken here.

Best regards,

Edwin

Thanks Ron I finally found it.

As Edwin said there is great difficulty in trying to align the markings – they just do not line up.

IR18 was not part of the BAII, but of the BAXX.
I think I read 2 Fs AR = 2.(bavarian) Fuß Artillerie Regiment, this would perfectly match with the BAII marking (II bavarian army corps,Metz).

This would then give a sense.

But the marking IR18 remains a clue...
However, this seller is the forum well known Ronald Fengler alias ulan9....Alles klar????

Yes, you are right IR18 was indeed part of XX armeekorps :bravo:

I did not know that we were dealing with ulan9 here and that certainly explains a lot.

Regards,

Edwin
