Inscription reads Mit Gott fur Koenig und Vaterland (With God for King and Country)
The sentiment and message both lost on my Great Grandfather who liberated it early on in the first war and for ease of transportation removed the helmet from the badge!

One of the loops that originally held it to the helmet is missing and its has a light rust patina but its other wise its in reasonable condition for its age and history.

Would like it to go to an enthusiast who can use it, hence posting on here.

Thanks Ron - I cant say the post was made out of purely altruistic motives to the members but I would like it to go to an enthusiast who will enjoy it.

Now looking to find a way to sell a set of Genuine high WW2 German awards which are a little more difficult due to e-bay rules on black crosses!
