Time to add some period pictures which I have collected on occasion over the years:

Garde M 15 Arty obviously, just a fantastic pic showing how even on the M15, the original finish gleamed like patent leather. Look at the M 15's in your collection as they are now...even with some shoe polish, you can't equal that mirror finish! The haube is brand new...chin strap, buckles, Wow!

What appears to be an early GdK judging by the whiskers and helme.

Saxe Bandsman. JR 101...?? I see litzen on the collars and a cyphered schulterklappe, foto taken in Dresden.

Appears to have,#75 and exploding bomb on the strap, shooting languette and NCO tresse but driving goggles? Comments?

Hessen NCO wedding foto wearing an M 15 haube. Again, look at the finish on that helmet.

Another very human foto of the boys hanging out in das bunker...a pin up, a couple of NCO's toasting with schnapps, a telephone, aluminium cups, stahl helme etc. The soldat in the middle with EK ribbon is not a happy camper with arms folded in a defensive posture.

Brian,

That first photo had me stumped for a minute. Why were the straps blank? Then it came to me, M1907 Garde foot artillery shoulder straps had no numbers, only white piping. This strap is the simplified version of that, i.e., no number, no piping. The shortened Litzen match up time-wise (early 1915-1916) with that pattern strap (no tongue, no piping). About as plain and non-descript as you can get. If you saw it off of the uniform it would look like something that had not been completed.

Thanks Alan. I have more to post. Chip, many thanks for the strap analysis, I have some dunkelblau examples in my collection and have relied on Tony to help me iD everything.
