I wonder if we can solve this mystery. Pickelhaube 1871 with markings. Fusiliers, which company, which regiment. It would be great to solve it.

Hi Johny,
I think FB stands for Füsilier-Bataillon, which was the third battalion. This also fits the owner's label that reads "Füsil" for the owners rank of Füsilier. The system of 3rd Füsilier battalions dates from around 1870, but I don't have exact introduction or expiry dates.
The numbers in front of the "R" indicate which infantry regiment this was, maybe "17", so the 17th infantry regiment. This fits with the Wappen on the Pickelhaube, which is the standard Wappen without the fancy monogram centre or scrolls. The holes for the Wappen show that washers were present before that have now disappeared, so at least the Wappen has been taken off, but it fits rather well so not necessarily changed.
I'm sure there are others members that can add a more precise timeframe for the helmet in this configuration.
Very nice helmet, thank you for showing.
Regards,
Lars

To me it looks like the Kammer issue regiment marking
was in the helmet before the front plate was mounted.
The hole for the front plate when punched in then goes
thru the regiment number?

Lars, this could be a good lead, just looking for why someone would cover up certain information, someone who wanted to reveal. They did things like that during WWII.

There is something on that screw, but it looks more like random dots of paint.

When I write something, Google translates it faster and the whole page and then I don't know if the answer is in Polish or English. I hope I have corrected what I wanted to write to you.
