this type of helmet is shown in the book
les coiffures de combats l'armee allemand on page 49
this schould be a rare one becouse it is made of a other material than leather or felt
this schould be either one piece simili leather or cardboard
witch was heavely lackered on the outside

Is that a new liner ?

Looks like it. I'm far from being an ersatz expert, but this one seems fishy to me... at least the liner and some fittings do. PLEASE prove me wrong. :)

:D Ron

the liner is indeed a new one
it is glued in instead of sewing in but still not like it schould be
all the rest of it is original
the plate is the good one becouse of its inprint on the haube itself
it was never replaced with a other one
if i can i wil take a pic of this one in my book and put it on the forum

jonas

Thanks Jonas,

I was wondering mainly about the side posts, which seem to lack the radiating lines around the central 'dot'. Might just be the photos? I'm glad this one has an original shell. As I said, I hoped to be proven wrong. :)

:D Ron

the radiating lines are filled with dirt but there there
wil put aditional pics but sorry for its darknes

jonas

at request of ron i ad a few fotos of my ersatz helmet
the side posts are with the radial lines but from dirt the are not quite visible
the pic taken from the book is the same of the helmet at least without the front visor trim

That’s a rare versuchshelm Jonas. :thumb up:

Good thing you found it in a book ,coz these types of helmets are hard to defend as original.

Yup! As I said, thanks for proving me wrong. The liner and side post appearance threw me. I really enjoy learning new stuff on this forum. :)

as far as i can tell it didn't
i cant find little holes from the pins to secure the the trim
and it dit not leave a mark along the visor so my gues is this model dit not have the visor trim
as the model shown in the book
as with al ersatz helmets there are more than a dosin varaity's
one can never know witch model your handeling with

jonas

Ahhh...another variation. Interesting that it has the spine, yet no front trim---much like some of the plain felt helmets.
