Gruesse aus America!

Wilkomen Tim. The body of the helmet and trim look to be for a Pioneer, in which case the plate should be silver as well. If possible, do you have photos of any markings or the back of the wappen (adler)? Or just tell us about any markings. If you can get the eagle off, also photograph the helmet behind it as well as the inside liner. To me the shell, spike, spine and visor trim look original. The skull does not belong on that eagle and a photo of the back of the eagle would answer a lot of questions. Oh, from what I can see the chin scales look as if they fit the helmet well.

Wo Wohnen Sie in Deutschland? :) (If you don't mind saying.... I have good friends in Guetersloh, NRW)

The skull on a garde wappen maybe from a flamethrower unit ?

I don't think so. 8-[

So do I [-X

Totally bogus, I would personally say..... [-(

To me, the shell looks like a legitimate Pioneer, but the wappen seems all wrong for several reasons. This is why more photos would be good. IMHO

Yes, the "real fittings" on any helmet are the rear spine, M91 posts and the front visor trim. The wappen loops can be changed and the spike replaced but the other 3 are crucial because they (2) have to fit the curves of the helmet visor and shell. The M91 posts (3) are very hard to switch out and to a trained eye obvious. In this case we also have neusilber M91 posts as well as spine and visor trim so this wappen does not belong. Are there extra holes in the shell? This could be a Pioneer helme...any markings on the rear visor? The flat brass chin scales are very valuable and again would suggest pioneer. We need to see a foto of the interior of the helme.
