So wouldn't it have to be from before they made the mistake of fighting Prussia?

Well in addition to the general it also applied to officers of the guard from Hanover.

Not very long ago someone asked me a question about this–and about value–I do not do values and if I recall correctly one of these with a helmet attached to it had a very difficult time selling in Europe. I guess the seller could not confirm and somehow got a Russian connection…
The kingdom was annexed by Prussia after the 1866 war. remember however that the big battle was won by Hanover! --Battle of Lagensalza
