Police Helmet

I have had a few requests to post a bystander helmet that was in my first post, a Prussian police helmet that I picked up recently.Any help in identifying what type of police etc would be greatly appreciated!!

Cannot make out any legible markings except a pencil marking size 54

Yes, repro strap and blank kokarden until I can get some real ones, if anyone has a line on some let me know!

The cross is approx 38 mm wide!

I have never seen a cross on a police helmet. I am with Ed. Thanks for posting this!

I am not saying this is the case but I wonder if those holes were originally for something else?

That is entirely possible. The wappen has been on the helmet for quite some time though as there is a nice shadow on the helmet itself, that proves nothing and there originally could have been something else there. Still, I am happy with it and got it in a trade for a 109th Baden Wappen I found at a flea market.

I am interested to hear any other theories or thoughts.
