Portepee - WW2 or WW1?

Again with the knots!! :D
I bought the below knot thinking it's for a Wehrmacht Heer Officer Sword.
I have however recently noticed very similar knots on militaria sites being advertised as WW1 Imperial Off. Portepees...

Can someone help me see the difference if any?
Is it about leather color (black for Reichsheer/WW1; feldgrau for Wehrmacht/WW2)?
Mine looks rather dark green than black, but again such colors come very close on old rotting leather...
Any clues?

And here's a picture of a Prussian Imperial M89 Officer sword with a very similar portepee only the leather has lost most of its coloring and silver wire thread--leaving only 3 empty pierced stripes--which makes it hard to tell:

Did I tell you guys how much I hate knots?!

I've managed to take further closeups of the 2 quite similar Officer Portepees I already had (1 already listed above) along with the 3rd knot that came along with my M1889 Prussian (Light) Infantry Degen.

As said, the 2 that I already had are quite similar: Same dark green (or black?) leather strap color & length, same rusty silver (or golden?) bullion bulbs... The only difference is the dot (1 is 'chequered', the other isn't).

As for the portepee that came with the WW1 Prussian Degen, the strap is a bit longer and the leather color, although almost all gone along with the 3-rowed threads, seems quite clearly green. Surprisingly however, the bullion bulb is the best of the 3 and has a 'chequered' dot quite similar to one of 2 other knots... ](*,)

What do you think now? :-k
