Prussian ersatz

WW1 German Prussian ersatz "Eisenblech" steel pickelhauben helmet dated 1914 | eBay

1914 and 57 stenciled inside. Liner is in rough condition and missing felt (?). Well used with many scratches, scrapes and small dents.

This one seems strange to me given that the plate is just screwed on through the front. Seems like someone just couldn't find the proper plate and put a screw through this one and spray painted it green. This can't be period can it?

It is absolutely period. I had one of these for many years it too had the Wappen secured with a single screw. It too was factory painted in black and later sprayed in Feldgrau. It went during "the downsizing".
