Hi,

I would like to have opinions on this pickelhaube which is mine, why is there a leather chin strap on it when most if not all Prussian Guard pickelhaubes I see on the net have chinscales, is the leather chinstrap proper to it?

It seems your helmet has seen some restauration and cleaning... You can still see green remnants on the helmet plate, that has been totally oxidised (green) and then cleaned up, in fact the complete outside of the helmet appears to be cleaned up...
The rear splitpen of the spike has been replaced once, the kokarden and chinstrap are in much better condition than the interior of the helmet, so they appear to be replaced also...
This type of chinstrap is normal for this enlisted men's helmet.
Maybe you can make some pictures of the stamps also?

I would be interested in seeing the mark also. Maybe we would add it to the list. Should it not be KFGGR?

Hi,

My mistake, the markings are very hard to see, it is 'KFGGRN2' not 'KRGGRN2' with the date 1892 under. It is definitely not 'BA' but now looks more 'LB' than 1B with the date 1907 under.
