What's this? A Kürassier wartime painted helmet?

Hmmm...
Don't like the spike...
Don't like the way the Wappen is attached to the helmet....(...shoulderboard stars... )

That's an odd one isn't it? The spike looks like a standard officer spike that's been formed to look more 'Kurassier-ish'. I wonder about the eagle as well, even though it's a Kurassier type. The chin scales look like they're joined at the 'end links' by the wire, so would be too short. To me, it looks like the metal has been anodized or oxidized, rather than painted, but I can't really tell... I'll look some more.

The ware to the inside and outside doesn't match.... another strike.

I've seen some painted war time Kurassier, as well as some one piece shells. I'm interested to follow the discussion on this one.

The shell looks like a light weight private purchase one but there is something off about it. If you look closely the liner headband seems to be made of paper or a very very thin leatherette material. I have only seen those in kids or prop helmets.
