Gentlemen, is this Bubsy authentic?
http://www.beck-militaria.de/Helme-und-Kopfbedeckungen/Kaiserreich/Preussen-Husarenmuetze-fuer-Mannschaften-des-1-Leibhusarenregiments-Nr-1::12012.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

If it was authentic, Ron, do you think the seller would advertise it at a fixed 1890,00 euro? A real one could fetch twice as much at any auction...
Also, notice that the scroll is not of the correct type: it should follow the curvature of the skull (although genuine LH busbies have been seen occasionally bearing this incorrect bandeau).

Although this is a German site, many of their stuff is fake or incorrectly described... And yet they always price (and describe) most of their stuff as authentic.
I was wondering about this busby because the asking price seemed too low for a genuine and too high for a fake (aka 'copy').

Ron, I am not convinced that "Although" was the right conjunction to be placed at the beginning of your last message....

I disagree, I believe that Although was a better choice, unless one would expect a German site to have things misidentified. I understand the meaning to be that inspite of the fact that it is a German site, they got it wrong (implying that they should have known better because it was German stuff)

That's exactly what I meant Gus: They are supposed to know better when it comes to their own history.

I once argued with them about a typical/obvious M15 Kürassier Helmet that was misidentified as a Jäger zu Pferde. They were adamant that their description was flawless and apparently even "Mr. Beck the long-time expert" himself was contacted and insisted it was JZP. I had to refer them to several sites including Tony's until they finally admitted I was right. To my additional surprise however, they never fixed that description! They also had helmets misidentified as M16 when these were M18 and vice-versa, not to mention all their Officer Pickelhaubes were M15 when these were mostly M97, and so on...
I was about to buy the Kürassier helmet but when I realized they didn't even know their own stuff, I started having doubts about authenticity.

Therefore, I also agree that this site is in the grey zone. Some of their stuff isn't always right...
