Prussian M15.. the Prodigal Son

Picked this one up years ago from a flea market and sold it to a friend in my Reserve Cavalry unit who was eager to have a helmet. Also, years ago, my dad bought a tanker helmet for me, which happened to be this same friend's that he'd used when we where on tanks.
This past summer, I gave him the tanker helmet (a DH-132), of which I have too many, and he said he'd sell the M15 back to me for the same price as I sold it ($50, when they were going for $50!).
So, here it is! Now, I've every single Pickelhaube I've ever purchased in my collection. What could be better?

Neck Guard markings... arsenal rework, no unit... maybe one from that BIG monument of helmets in Central Park!?? (Makes one wonder if the creases in the side of the dome were from the wire...)
Evidently, the dome is from an earlier helmet, neck guard and visor newer leather.

Liner... a bit mouse eaten.

Arsenal repairs behind the front plate.

Helmet with replacement chin strap and cockades. ... Just a typical M15 one finds at a flea market and goes home happy.

Good for you, I also have a problem selling my helmets, even when I have many duplicates.

Great story

James, I'm with you.
I guess that's why we're collectors. I don't see how dealers can part with them!

Very nice to have your first helmet back especially when it is in such nice condition. Mine was a beater with a tattered red rot liner and no markings. I do not miss it. Brian
