Prussian Officer Pickelhaube Opinion?

Hello People,
I received this pickelhaube this week. Looks nice for me. One rosette is lost...
Questions:
1 - It's a good pickelhaube not restored?
2 - What is the cross on the set in the Prussian shield?
3 - The size of the officer spike is correct? I have another officer pickelhaube with the highest spile.
Best regards,
William Schmidt

Hi William,
What you have here is an older model of the Prussian Reserve infantry officer helmet, dating probably from the late 1870's or 1880's. The main characteristics are the general shape of the shell (later models were more cylindrical), shorter spike, enlisted-type leather liner and single Prussian cockade on the right side.
Your helmet is a textbook example. 56 is the helmet size.

Looks nice to me, just need a little (very, very gentle) 'blocking' or 'forming' to bring it back to shape.

Looks very good. Nice to see a surviving older style Prussian officer helmet. :thumb up:
