Rare tunic for Leib-Garde Husar

Here’s an unusual tunic that’s styled on the prewar Litewka. It’s of light weight field gray material with the Litewka collar and shoulder insignia with LGH buttons attaching the straps. The NCO tresse is of the Husar pattern for LGH Rgt.

I studied it a long time because it intrigued me greatly. I have to say it’s near exact to the pre-war and I can’t say if it were made in 1915 or earlier.

Take a look and let me know your opinions.

Nice. Do you have any closeups of the strap buttons? I thought that an "L" on those designated the Leib-squadron of the LGH (an honorary title for the 1st squadron after June 1888)

This is a beautiful tunic, but I believe the LGH NCO lace is incorrect. It should have a thin red stripe down the center as noted in this example.

I see how one could interpret that lace as NCO but it’s in fact part of the LGH uniform trim.
See attached example for an NCO Attila.

I wish I had gotten to it before someone else. Unfortunately, someone took the shoulder strap buttons. It appears the yellow lace has faded.

That’s for your input, I had searched lots of period photos and pictures of LGH Attila and Litewka

Very nice tunic and informative post. You have answered a question I have had since I first saw that tunic in an auction catalogue a couple of years ago. It was listed as an infantry nco’s feldbluse circa 1916, and it stated that the shoulder straps were replaced, which sort of made sense as they were clearly not M1915 feldbluse pattern shoulder straps. However, the sleeves were clearly not feldbluse pattern ,or had been modified, and the collar was also not regulation pattern, so I left it. When it appeared on a certain dealer’s website a couple of month’s later, it was also listed as a 1915 pattern feldbluse, circa 1917, but correctly attributed to the LGH. Your identification of it as a Litewka finally solves the puzzle and it looks like it has found the perfect home Thanks very much!

Thanks, it intrigued me greatly but after examination it is obvious that all the insignia is original and that it’s a Litewka. I dont know if this tunic was made pre-war or early war.

I noticed the same think Steve. I do t buy a lot of photos but when I saw that one I had to have it. Too bad I traded my HR17 visor.
 
Shouldn't officers' fur hats be made of bearskin? In the photo it looks like seal skin. The inside of the field symbol should be light blue. Or am I wrong?
