It must be the wappen... Is brass on brass right for that? I thought all Saxon plates had silvered centers...

Hi Ron,

Just had a look at my 1913 OR's Saxon Reservist's helmet. The 8 pointed star is brass with a "stay-bright" finish; reservist's cross in nickel and the Saxon coat of Arms in nickel.

All other fittings are brass.

We have had some long talks on this before.

There are certainly some that are gilt on gilt, and then there're some that might just be patina. interesting topic.
