Restore or not restore, that's the question....

Hello Forum-Members,
as you know I'm relativly new in this Forum and maybe you've read my introduction of my first Helmet last Month.
The Pickelhaube was already repaired in the imperial Time, but I could kick myself because I destroyed a small repaired soldering when I've took the Eagle-Plate off
What do you think about repairing this soldering? Would you repair it again or leave it as is? Does this re-opened crack have a great influence of the worth of the Helmet?
Thank you for your comments :)

Sorry because no one answered.

I would leave it alone .

It will not get worse unless you take the plate on and off every day.

I am a professional modeler and I use super glue ( CA glue) almost every day of my life.

If the scepter separation really bugs you , you can use thick CA glue and kicker to repair it in seconds.

Use a drop of the thick glue in the separation hold the pieces together and spritz the glue.

Hold it for about 10 seconds and you are done.

Definitely solder if the break bothers you that much.
You may be able to melt a small amount of the existing solder to make the repair.

John :)

I have seen original piece that appear to have period repairs. The solder repair would be reinforced with a small strip of brass, bridging the break. Solder is not very strong and if that point receives some flexing just solder will break again.
