Saxon M95 Militärbeamte... Minty fresh

I'm so happy the forum is back on track... I immediately felt the urge to post some pictures...
Here's my latest aquisition... I know it's not strictly a military helmet, but I could not resist purchasing this one, because of the helmet's fine condition and it's rarity... A Saxon Pickelhaube for Militärbeamte...
That's indicated by the little "extra" shield at the bottom of the Wappen... In this case the little shield is not separate but the wappen and shield are made in one piece. The wappen and shield are fixed with splitpins instead of the normal nuts and bolts.
This haube was produced by Depaheg Patent...
The shell is made of vulcan fibre instead of leather...

Congrats, that is a very fine helmet. Who could pass that up? Very rare, I have only seen line drawings of the wappen, never a real helmet. Thanks for the opportunity to see one finally. Great pic also Joe, trust you to have one and a rarity as well. Brian

The mintyness of this beautiful piece is also due to the fact that it is made from Vulcanfiber. I have one Vfibe helme in my collection. I wonder, does anyone out there have any info or history on this material? I have always seen it as an early form of plastic. Looking forward to a response from some of our more technological members! Perhaps I should just google it and keep my mouth shut?? Brian

Or not, A great question, and a quick google shows that it is like celulite, and early plastic, but I am sure that any response that comes from the membership will be much more enlightening.
