I thought the wappen on this helmet deserved a separate post of its own...both before and after pics. The wappen was missing a loop on the back, an original was soldered on to fix this problem. Unfortunately, the original loops on this were different from the usual ones we see, so they do not quite match. The feet on the original loops are turned facing each other whereas the normal loops we see have the feet opposed to each other. Nothing can be done about this and it can barely be seen.


The new/original loop has been soldered on. Unfortunaletly, my soldering is not quite as neat as the original but it will have to do. The wappen fits tight against the shell and the shrapnel holes totally match up, as do the impressions made by the star rays in the surface of the shell. These are very important issues.
