Hello,

Fine, isn't ?

That thing obviously has a powerful mojo that's beyond my perception.

.......the kind that would make some knob-head pay €71 just to have a photograph of it.

Two fish on the same hook - the boy done good! :D

Well the hat itself is not a bad one Michael; well marked to UR1, with the correct "FWR" eagle. Condition is another matter... the worst of it is the collapsed mortarboard. Shells on EM Tschapkas are usually very difficult to put back in shape, since they are built in very thick leather.
Bruno

I know Bruno, after looking again at it a week ago I thought it had potential, but finishing at €1519 Euro's I think is too much with the top like that. It's a bit of a gamble as to whether it could be corrected.

I didn't think the photo trick would work too well but he scored with that too.

Hat's,... I mean, - Tschapka's off to the bloke for sheer crust......

PS. Glad you got back OK, Bruno. I hope all is well. :)

Sweet! Really neat. Note the Feldzeichen worn almost horizontal on the picture, as these often were...
Bruno

Ahh, I'm familiar with this one.....nice. It has all the right stuff and it's a slightly better photo too - like properly taken and lit and not with bathroom tiles in the background and someone's hand inside the helmet.

Hello,

Sorry, but I do not understand :

It's a bit of a gamble as to whether

a powerful mojo

Could anybody translate it in french, or explain to me ?

Please excuse our bad English, we do not have any excuse, as we should know better.

It's a bit of a gamble as to whether = a chance, possibility this is a negative comment, you gamble in the casino, and fixing this helmet would be a gamble too

a powerful mojo = very strong witch craft Mojo in an interesting word, if you are good with the girls, then you have some good mojo, but if you have many girls at once, then you have powerful mojo

I hope this helps, if not, please ask
Best wishes
Gus

Hey JR92
Well in that case that lid's a real fanny-magnet for sure........

I think this may best be translated to

OK, this helmet can truely be stuck to some one's butt.

I think it was a negative comment, please be patient with Mikey, he does not speak English, we just have not been able to tell what language he does speak.
Gus

If you think my English is terrible you should hear my French!

A "Fanny-Magnet" is something that will get girls. Usually a flash bike or a car - in other words something with 'mojo' to assist the 'mojo-less' in their quest for female company. In my case I picked up the guitar for the requisite mojo.

'Fanny' in English doesn't mean the 'butt' - it's er, what's 'round the other side. :!:

But that is my mom's name

I swear Mikey, I can not make much out of your English, Round here, most people who wear fanny packs, wear them on the back.
Gus

Hello,

Thanks !

"to kiss Fanny", in french, means something very special, about bowl players. :D

If I understand, you are thinking, schapska is a "booby trap" ?

Sure for the photo, not for the schapsaka itself, I like such helmets "in their juice". No doubt its genuine ! And may be could it be gently restored.

That term would not compute in England. I'm not sure what you'd get if you asked for a 'Fanny-Pack' in London but you might get handed a bumper, shrink-wrapped bargain package of pornographic magazines. :confused1:

Here you go Mikey,

not with bathroom tiles in the background and someone's hand inside the helmet.

And what do you think about this background ?

usually very difficult to put back in shape,

"Impossible n'est pas Français", as Napoleon said...

And restauration is not finished ...

I am unsure which is better, the helmet or the back ground, but I would rather have the background, because it is easier to move the helmet:)
Gus
PS That photo should be worth much more than 71 Euro on ebay

Ah, it's clearer now. But a request for an 'All Leather Fanny Pack' would get you into even more trouble in naughty London. This is about as off-topic as it gets, I think we need to end this one.......

But that is a great lid - absolutely first-class!

And I do play 'Boule' but I never had to perform that ritual. I always win, see? :^o
