Screw Mounted Rosettes.

Do any of you chaps know when the 'pre1887' type screw threaded bolts were phased out of service? Is it possible to find this system - where the scales are mounted via a slot headed dome bolt through the rosette and into a female thread inside the helmet - on helmets that post date ,say 1900? Maybe on OYV or Fahnrich helms?

Anyone got any examples?

Cheers.

Nice one Tony, Rochling is pretty damned cool, a good action painter. But have you checked out Messonnier? He is amazing. Mostly Napoleonic with really convincing action, superb composition and totally authentic uniform details. His studio was like a small museum stuffed with Napoleonic uniforms. Rochling probably had the same set up for his work. Theodore Gericault's ace as well.

That clarifies things pretty well on the rossettes.

Thanks Tony.
