Hi Amy.

You see of course the impression of a different Preußen eagle Wappen, the glued on center to the Feldzeichen and other things etc. Priced accordingly I trust? That is a superb Wappen! Tony

Yes beautiful wappen, but not original to this hat, feldzeichen and strap are reproductions. The black centre of the feldzeichen (field badge) is always hand stitched to the white cloth on the front and back. But, still a very nice shako. It is very common to encounter repro Fz as so many were lost over the years.

Nice Tschako.
Periodically original Feldzeichen show up on Ebay.
There are also a couple of dealers that often have originals in stock.

John :)

No markings. Liner is black. Fittings in Brass. No extra hole.
Wappan has been lacquered but it's original.

This shako is from the Stoyles Collection that was breaken up in nov 2017 in Sydney by Noble
The collection description was : Prussian Jager Reserve Battalions enlisted ranks shako model 1895, a well presented example with some old restoration, original black leather shako body with both original front peak and rear neck guard, slight warping and shape distortions often found with shakos, original leather chinstrap, reproduction and national cockades, gilt enlisted ranks 'FWR' monogram shako plate, lacquered, with white metal reservist wappen, original enlisted ranks cloth top cockade, original leather liner with a replaced single tongue section. Very fine.

I went to that auction but don't remember seeing this one. That auction has a lot of reproduction and I was very careful with it. There were abt 250 spikes listed and the dealer I. S. Wright's bought three quarters of it.

Thank you very much. I found it in the catalogue too. I must have been obsessed by the pickelhaube and missed this shako at the auction house.
