Silver fitting, Mystery Officers Helmet

Did a little web surfing but didn't find this crest (yet). If anybody knows what it is off hand it would be great.

Thinking officer due to the liner, the scalloped chin strap makes me think mounted supply train.

The metal gets bright green tarnish, seems like silver to me. Of course the crest came off, ripped the one hole, the other came free from the crest. The front visor fell off (not sure where it is) and the rear visor is very loose and the top of the spike is gone, still a cool crest, looks kind of cool on the mantle. Would look much better with the spike.

Any thought of idea's would be great.

There are a bunch of these types of wappen that are for police and/or fireman outfits. This picture comes from the 1932 Junkers catalog and is one of the most common I have seen. Sorry not military.

It's from the Rheinland. I have a couple similar, because my wife and I visit Nordrhein Westfalia when we go to Germany and like that old Rheinland crest (of course NRW is different, with a horse on one side). I think they replaced the crown with a black eagle post-WWI, but I'm not certain.

Yes Rhineland fire helme. I sold one of these on Ebay last fall, it was missing the front trim. It had a rolled up newspaper in it from the 1920's. The wappen did not have a crown on it and there was no sign that there had ever been one.
