Small purchase at Ciney

Overall, here in Europe, France and Belgium the use of metaldetectors is forbidden. And rightely so too.
If you get caught metaldetecting, you have a problem, a big one.
I believe in Belgium it's allowed as long as you have permission of the owner of the land. Which would mean it's forbidden in public forests or areas.

France is really strict when it concerns battlefields since it considers them as graveyards (plus it could be very dangerous). More over, anything you find, even on private land, is considered property of the state. A couple of years ago there was a piece in the newspaper of a French metal detector who found a lot of valuable silver coins and claimed he found them in Belgium. Because here it's allowed to keep what you find.

I've been wanting to attend the SOS for a while now! But I'll need a good chunk of cash before I can make that trip a reality haha
Well, that is really true.
However, do not forget, even if you go just to look it is worthwhile.
You can make contacts with the right dealers such as the Age of Kings.
Two really nice men. Also, you can meet other collectors
and get an idea of what to do for next year.
Become a member of the OVMS and if you are young
consider becoming a Life Member
It pays off in the long run

I must add that Brian Loree and James LaB will be there
it is a group that has a table that would be considered PH.com tables
A treat to meet and talk to these fellows
