The body/shell has a few minor compression cracks around the edge, however; remains in very good-excellent condition for a 100+ year old felt ersatz helmet. The body is exceptionally clean and is free of other damages, stains, smells, repairs, etc. I would estimate the size to be around a 55-56. It is complete, and I would leave it exactly as is. The original liner is in very good-excellent condition. None of the liner fingers have been pulled-thru. Part of the original drawstring is still holding on. There are no extra holes for placement of the wappen. Both kokardes are original. All brass hardware is original. There are no dents in the artillery ball. There is an old piece of period German newspaper stuffed into the ball spike base... I left it in there as found. The chinstrap is original. There is writing inside the rear neck guard/visor. I can make out Soissons. There is also a name and other writings that could be deciphered with a little work. I suspect this was an untouched US vet Bringback.
