Police? Fire? I don't know when the military got rid of the lion bosses and don't have my books here. Worth looking into. Also, wouldn't it be a Bavarian cockade? :-k Okay, book time, we'll see what turns up. Of course, somebody else might know right away...

Did a bit of searching and I personally can't find anything mentioning this type specifically (anybody more successful than I was? I didn't look at Kube's book). Some things with this don't sit well with me. First, if this is a Beamte helmet, I wonder about the lion's head bosses, not because of what they are or that I think they're wrong for the type of helmet (knowing little about Bavarian civil helmets), but the spike base has settled nicely into the lacquer in spots, the lion's heads haven't, which makes me wonder when they were affixed to the helmet. The cockade is either wrong entirely or repainted in the wrong colors IMHO. Also, some photos of the area behind the front plate would be nice.

All in all, it looks nice and seems to fit together, but I really wonder if it does. In any case, it's not something I would purchase personally... it just doesn't work for me.

Well, that is certainly a POT (piece of trash). At least the Bavarian helmet looks good. There are so many areas of this hobby in which I've too little knowledge that I have to research first, then look for flaws that bug me. The Bavarian helmet bugs me, but that 'Prussian' shako is just trash.. and yet, some member may come along and say, "Ron, that's a beautiful Bavarian fire officer's parade helmet.." and I'd learn something new!
