some years ago I bought this Austrian WW1 helmet shell with a decal, and an ornament on the other side. (no liner)
It looks old, but might be a fake, anyway it looks beautiful and convincing to me, (it wasn't expensive, and I like it a lot, whether it's original or not, so going to keep it anyway)
while searching in books and internet I didn't find any similar ones. Is it a stahlhelmbunt logo?, looks like imperial Austrian eagle.
the decal looks old and both helmet an decal don't look artificially aged, they have a beautiful patina, but on the other hand the edges look to sharp compared to the damaged paint of the shell itself, so maybe it was added later?
so looking forward to the opinion of forum members: what is it? and is it old?.
I post it in "latest find" as there isn't a "stahl helm" section (although it's been with me for years)
