Maybe someone could have a look.

Exactly. And another tip, wet the markings a bit, and photograph them without the sun putting a glare on them.
That way we can see more. And, the more pictures of your helmet, the better we can give you our opinion about it.

Regards, Coert.

Thanks for your replies. It should be a Infantrie Garderegiment.
The leather is not in a verry good condition i have to clean it. The white stains is some coating that doesnt belong there.
Im not sure if the Helmet belongs to the eagle.
I try to get some better pictures.
Thanks.

The front plate appears to fit
However the only real way to tell
is to remove the front plate
take photo of the helmet body without the plate on it
then we can see if there are extra holes in the body
also a photo of the backside of the plate so we can
see if the loops on the plate have been moved
that should tell the story
Steve

Here are the promissed images,
i did not manage to get the stamps in better i will try better lighting and try the tip of wet the marks.
The strange white color gues on under the eagle in the back you see the Vent. The spike ist small and the conterplate seems to be rusted a bit. The Button 91 is there but no Korkade on both sides.

Im will search for a restauration thread in here, what oil to use.
My plan was to clean it with some leather foam and oil it with a syntetic leather oil.

Pardon my english if some sentences are a bit mixed up.

My advice, and that of all collectors I know: NEVER EVER use oil or grease on the helmet shell or liner. So many helmets have been ruined by using such lubricants. Your helmet is seasoned, patinated, which makes its attraction. In my opinion, all it needs is light cleaning with a damp cloth. If you want to be more serious about cleaning, Brian Loree on this forum is an expert and can guide you, but please no oil!

Thanks, for that advice. My main goal is to preserve it and maybe get rid of that white color.
Im here to get that kind of information and learn from long time collectors.

Your helmet looks to me like the real deal .
IF you have the extra money and willing to spend it
you need to contact team leader Brian Loree
his work on helmets can not be matched
if you do this and see the " Before and after "
you will not believe that it is the same helmet
I think that it is worth it
Steve

Certainly looks like a neglected but real Gardes Infantry OR's helmet.

The biggest obstacle in my view (assuming the liner is intact) will be finding a visor trim that fits without looking like it was forced to fit. I have enough orphaned pieces of visor trim that I've wound up with over the years to know that finding one that fits well is a long shot. But hope springs eternal you may get lucky.

Welcome to the forum Flo. I believe I can see the date 1893 on the left side of your rear spine fitting, there is also a regimental stamp on that side but I can not make it out. On the right side of the spine, I see II which is the condition of the helmet...a 2. Then I see the Battalion number? This looks to be a government issued Prussian Garde helmet with brass fittings. As for the white substance , it could be mold. I would first try whipping it off with warm water and dish soap. Next I would try isopropyl alcohol on a cotton ball. If that fails, ooo steel wool. The real problem here is the missing front visor trim, as has been mentioned, very difficult to find an original piece to fit.

Thanks a lot for your help.
The white stuff seems to be a wall paint for wett basements typicall here in Germany.
Its limebased,it also covers some brass parts, i will try water or iso, mayme vinigar could help on lime.

The visor trim will be hard to find but it was without it in a box for a long long time. And i have the paition to wait for a spare.
Thanks a lot so far.

Finally i got better imsges of the stamps.

Still can’t make out the regimental stamp but condition is III or 3 and 2BA should mean 2nd Korps. Usually the Korps number is in Roman numerals eg. BA XIV.

For me the regoment looks like FGRS. A.S.
Maybe Garde Fußatellerie.
And there is a sindle letter "J" . Maybe it was repurposed at some time.
