I have a Prussian Infantry Officer's sword made by A Wiener in Berlin --- No seriously, manufactured by "A Wiener" in Berlin.
It is either a model 1840 or a model 1858. There is not much difference between the two.
Can anybody identify the hallmark on this blade? It may help me date it:
This type of sword was used by the Prussian Infantry from the late 1700's until the model 1889 came out. It was used after that, but only for dress occasions. I know that this sword is post 1816 because that model did not have the "top knot". It is also prior to 1887 because it does not incorporate the folding clam shell.
Any help is appreciated.
