The Christmas Truce of 1914 — The Facts and the Fiction

Great article. The book "A German Deserter's War Experience" describes the author's 1914 Christmas truce experience in the trenches opposite the French in the Vosges if I recall correctly. The book was written by anonymous Pioneer and published in America in 1917. It's one of the few accounts in English by a German enlisted man describing the Ausmarsch in 1914. Written in a direct, forthright style, it's also one of the best books about war I've read.
