I hate to follow the G d C photo.
I collect real photo postcards and photos.
I just got a photo of the Crown Prince in his Feldgrau
jacket for the 1 Garde Regt zu Fuss.
It is hard to find him in this uniform.
There is information of any kind about this photo.
I am not sure just when this was taken.
The jacket has litzen on the collar, but I see no litzen on the cuffs.
Over to the left is the color party of 1 GR zu Fuss
any feedback on the uniform please
Thanks

Maybe after the war ?
Steve

Looks like a 1915 pattern feldbluse with added pockets on the chest. I agree that it looks like it was after the war.

My question is, are his shoulder boards for a generals rank or a field grade in this uniform? I assume general but they look light like silver. May be the B&W photos....

Charles ;
I am sure that he did have the rank of General by then.
Hard to tell from the photo but the 1 Garde Regt zu Fuss officers
straps (including General) would have the silver tressa around the border of the straps.
My old computer crashed with all of files and photos on it.
I have photos of 1 G R zu Fuss Generals straps in my collecton
I hope to get my photos and files back?
Steve

Yes, he became a general on Aug 1, 1914. Apparently, we went from Oberst directly to GeneralLt

The Crown prince is wearing a postwar-made M1915 Feldbulse with the rank of General der Infanterie, the very same one in steve's photo.wtydw.jpg

The building in the background is the Potsdam garrison church. Incidentally, the rebuilding project of said church started in 2017 appears to be nearing completion.

Garrison Church

Many thanks
I will add that info to my postcard
Any guess what the event might have been?
Something to do with the 1 G R zu Fuss
since the color party was there?
A funeral?
Thanks
Steve

Steve,

not sure of the occasion at this time but will try and find out. The Kronprinz was certainly wearing a very unorthodox tunic for a Prussian officer, almost akin to a Wehrmacht Bluse with its pleated breast and skirt pockets.

Steve,

yes, Eitel-Friedrich and I believe the young chap to his right is his son, Prinz Wilhelm. Different occasion though. In your photo Eitel-Friedrich is the big guy obscured by the crown prince.
