the " Schossleisten " on the Mannschaftsmantel

there is no doubt concerning these Schossleisten ( center placed on the waistline ) at the " Mannschaftsmantel "-

M 1894 ( " Militair- Commismantel " ) and M 1915 ( " Einheitsmantel " ) do not have them.

in the second edition of Kraus : Feldgraue Uniformierung des deutschen Heeres ; Band 1 ,
a wrong picture is published in missing Schossleisten for M 1908
( Very confusing : You find the Schossleisten on the equivalent pic in the first edition )

as far as I know , Schossleisten started 1896. But could not find any AKO -
so would be thankful for an hint-
