Just an FYI. Both The Military Channel and The National Geographic Channel are airing specials on the battle of the Somme this week.

I believe both will be on this weekend!

These are abreviations using the first letter of a word
FYI = for your information
IMO = in my opinion
LOL = laugh out loud
LMAO =laugh my a** off
there are many others, and we should be careful how we use expressions that are difficult for some members to translate.

As a on the fence fan of haig The Night before there was a Britt TV series called Total War .It described the Need for the Advance Date of the Somme Battle and How Haig was rushed into Planning.It covered Verdun before the Somme and gave a big Picture.
The "Somme " was enjoyable and the acting was very good .for those who have not seen this yet try as it is good ,but ignore all the uniforms and weapon digrestions just sit back and digest the film ,and animations.

The Imperial War Museum used to carry this in the gift shop the whole 1916 first day of the Somme it may still be available ,i have had the privilage of seeing it once and it was a silent film that spoke loudly about the battle.
