Hey Guys

Check these out, honest seller listing them as reproductions but they appear to be aged very well.....Caveat Emptor http://www.ebay.com/itm/Russian-Crimean-Pickelhaube-Helmet-/110767559045?pt=UK_Collectables_Militaria_LE&hash=item19ca42d185" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; Be sure and look at his other items for sale...

I wonder if it would be possible to create a permanent listing data base of reproduction helmets when we see them offered for sale? Perhaps not the common, easy to detect ones seen all over EBAY. But these types, aged and weathered intended to deceive. Good for the seller that they list them as reproductions, but once out of their hands the damage can be done to new (and old) collectors.

From the same source:

These are better than the average replica, but still obviously different from the real thing in several ways.

Now that re-enacting this period is becoming popular in Europe, I'd imagine the quality of repros will be going up, even though the Pickelhaube are pretty easy to spot as such. Keeping informed would be a good idea and informative to the newer members of the forum.
