I was commissioned to do this project by a local boat yard.
It is my fist attempt at doing a water born vessel.
It took me between 90-100 days to complete .
The first pic is of the actual boat.
I was able to go on it while it was under construction.
Then It went to work.
I needed 3 more trips to get details off of it's sister boats.
No 2 were a like so my final colors were based on no 3 boat BRENT ICE.

Almost all of the display boat model have painted doors and window.
I went a step above and actually made doors and used film for the windows.

IT WAS MADE IN 1/48 SCALE AND THE MODEL IS 36" LONG AND 21" TALL.

99 % was scratch built !!!!!

Fantastic detail, very impressive! You are obviously a master modeller! :thumb up:

It sure is Jaap, when I looked at the first photo, I thought that's a nice boat! I didn't even realize it was a model..
I made some models in my youth, but never reached this stage.
Great work!

I am into moulding myself, didn't do any since we moved to this house, but I hope to start soon...
But isn't there anything you want or can share with us about a detail that went so smoothly or on the other hand so hard. A single (or more) thing that makes you proud of finding the way to make this or that.
I know I had such times when working on something.

Hey Guys,

Thanks for the kind remarks .
The first picture that I posted is of the " real "tug boat the rest are of my model.

There is a lot of remarks I can say of this project.
It was one of the most difficult builds I have ever done.
Almost 3/4 of everything I have done I had to redo in the build .
I was given a line drawing of the vessel and had access to schematics of the compartments on the boat .
They did not jive with each other of course what I chose to go with was the wrong choice so I had to redo.
Calling their office was no help.
So I had to go to the actual boat to get measurements. I made the trip 4 times !!
The time ( 6 months) it took me to make my rendition they were able to assemble 3 actual boats.
Each boat were a little different the last , so I had to make the measurements work.
I wish I had the first picture a month ago to see the details .
I am ready to turn over the model next week but seeing the picture I now have 10 issues that I need to fix because of the differences between boat No 3 than boat N01 .

My consigner says that I may have another 6 to do.
But the time it will take me to make them will shut down production on almost everything else .
Unless I decide to make boat models only .

But I do like the way it came out and actually wish I could keep it .
