Thoughts on this Hessen

In my mind it should not have stars. Hard to tell but looks like there might be other spike holes? Does the regimental stamp look legitimate? Also the bottom of the spike where it meets the base does not look rounded like so many other I have seen photos of.

I don't think the star studs are correct. The Prussian Kokarde needs to be replaced with a Reichskokarde. I can't say I'm a fan of the Kammer stamp font. It looks unconventional to me. I also think the chinscales should be convex instead of flat.

I suspect this has been cobbled together.

Some observations….the liner is dyed black on both sides and the front visor trim is too wide for my tastes. I also find that the “ markings “ are suspicious. Keep looking Pete!

Thanks for all the opinions. My gut told me it was bad but there is always wishful thinking and I appreciate getting the expert advice here.
