I honestly would have no idea why someone cut it up this badly, I got it as payment for doing some stitch work on a friend's pickelhaube.

It probably had a lot of damage originally , so was stripped for parts. For example, there are still a lot of leather wappen wedges left there.

I just picked it up because I like the JR.111 paint in it, I was going to put my M15 baden wappen on it but unfortunately the wappen I have doesn't fit.
