Very nice, great job of cleaning. 1825.....ten years after Napoleon met his Waterloo! Smoke free for 13 years now I chose life. 😀

Yes , my doctor told me it was the hardest addiction to break, I only smoked for ten years but still it was very hard to quit. Your shako is coming along nicely! All of these restorations are a slow, step by step process. i look forward to the finished photos.

Wojtek,
Another fantastic save of a unique piece of historical headgear! Would you mind sharing your secret to cleaning the nicotine residue off the badge? I look forward to seeing the progress of the restoration of the hat.

On a side note, my wife has gotten me to use vinegar and water solutions to clean most of my militaria collection. She has been using that combination for years. The solution seems to work pretty well on my pickelhauben for cleaning household dust of them. I try to remember to try and use it on a small section of a device I am cleaning if something goes amiss. LOL
Best regards
John
