The reverse of the middle photo bears the inscription: “In memory of Carl's
service in the army. He died at the young age of 23 on January 18th, 1919,
and is dearly missed by all his relatives. The school of life has no
holidays."

The photographers really knew their craft….not all are this clear, but when they are, they are fantastic….hopefully a library of these portraits will be of assistance to the members.

The NCO in the photo on the right has a wonderful shako cover. The uniform and its cut is extremely nice too
