Am I missing something?

Plus an 8th Hussars busby....

I'm not really into tschapkas (they don't have spikes, y'know - grin) and I can't say much about them that would make a lot of sense. But I certainly admit that this specimen looks good! I have the feeling that this will be one of those "last minute'ers", where literally in a couple of minutes before closing the bids will spout forth like rockets from a battery of Katyushas.

I agree. I'm sure the bidding will go up (I hope), but it's a beautiful set. I've never been much for busbies. I guess it's because they remind me of the hats women used to wear to church when I was a kid. :-k ?

:D Ron

Oh yes, the price will explode for sure in the last secs. Really nice stuff :D

Regards,

Edwin

The tschapka wasn't sold, Ron - there was no lucky bahstud who got it for 1526 bucks. It failed to reach the reserve of US $3,850.00 which, actually, seems a lot more realistic to me than the "highest" bid!

Remarkable... I truly expected the bids pouring in during the last few minutes!

Okay, thanks! I didn't see that it didn't sell. I agree, $3,850 seems reasonable.

It hurts to think what I sold my whole set up for, from this same regiment.

I know the feeling, Reg! When I think of some of the helmets I sold in a hurry, there is much wailing and gnashing of teeth!

Well, here's another story. I wanted to buy a Stuart tank (M5A1) for $13,000 jus before the prices for these tanks went through the roof. My wife wasn't thrilled, so I let it drop. Now they go for well over $100,000. Such is life. Pickelhaube or tanks, jeeps or uniforms, it's sometimes a guessing game.

And also, Ron (but don't tell anybody I said this because even though I am divorced my ex may come and give me a piece of her mind :D)... when it comes to collecting, never listen to the good woman in your life. In all other situations a soothing "Yes dear" is perfectly alright and even to be applauded, but collecting "man things" is a different matter. They often consider it a form of mental illness :D! Come to think of it... it kind of is (grin)!

Perfectly right...but then again women can prevent you from getting too much obsessed.
I prefer the first choice. I am totally lost and like it!
