Hello, I am new to this forum and I wander if any of you can help me with this...
I am looking for more information about this. I was told this 'plate' belongs to a Tschapka from the UlanenReg.13 (1. Hannover) and is quite rare. I have no idea how to check the authenticity of it (the pictures I find online are not that 'clear'.)
Thanks in advance!

Welcome Tim.
I don't know much about this regiment in partcular but that wappen looks fake to me.
Look at the eagle's head contour for instance; not very crisp is it?
Can't be 100% sure without seeing the backside.
Let's wait for the rhe experts to jump in.

Thnx a lot Ronny...
I was thinking the same actually.. there is also no " ¨ " on König ... and there is no ' - ' between Garzia-Hernandez which seems pretty strange to me...
anyway.. here you see the back

Hi Tim,
Unfortunately, you can be 100% sure that this is a reproduction.
Hopefully not too much of a disappointment...

Here is original plate. Image is not on perfect quality, but main difference can see.

Thnx a lot all!
Nice to read you are all so nice and helpful :)
I almost feel ashamed asking this was 'real' if I see the 'real' deal.
+ it makes me wonder where is your 'dignity' if you want to 'reproduce', why doing it then that 'bad'? :)

Thank you for sharing.
Great Wappen and Tschapka !

Thanks to all of you for the nice comments. This is indeed a great, all original and untouched (Fangschnurr, Feldzeichen, Haarbusch...) UR13 Tschapka for an Unteroffizier (or Fahnrich, or OYV... Joe will correct me). The liner is Offizier-type. These flash pictures do not do it justice though. I will make better shots in natural light. The patina is superb.

This is a great forum to learn on. Some of the experts in the field are here and willing to help, which is nice. They're also tactfully honest, which is even better. You've gained a =D> for being gracious about your repro-plate. It's not always the case and there have been people who've argued the point when they feel a fake is real, which is pointless.

Don't feel ashamed, that's how we all learn. I've made my fair share of mistakes here (Just ask anybody).

Finally, they make them poor quality because it's cheaper and most people don't know the difference. Look on 'ebay items' under the 'Poor Baden' Officer' and you'll see what I mean. http://pickelhaubes.com/bb/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=9545" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; That's a lot of cash for a fake.

So, stick around!

:D Ron
