Hi guys
My first post on this forum. I was offered to buy this small lot of items and thought I'd get some opinions first.
All items are supposed to be from the same soldier.

Any information would be greatly appreciated

Best regards
Bjorn

Sorry am I missing something? no one has any opinions ?

I would like to know what type of cap this is, is this a pre ww1 jaeger cap from saxony? Its very green ..
Am I correct that the jacket with trousers are for exercise?
Almost all jackets I have seen from WW1 have not breast pockets but this one has, it also has hidden front buttons the usual visible row of buttons found on most ww1 jackets.
Is this jacket possibly from another country than German?

With this lot is a photo album dating the jacket to 1917.....

I would really appreciate all opinions

Thank you
Bjorn

Looking at the jackets, my opinion is that they are not German and not old. The photo you show is of Austrian soldiers. The cap also looks to be a modern construction, I have never seen Hessian (burlap) combined with silk (or a synthetic substitute). The shovel is also a modern one in my opinion.

Thank you for the reply! Ok if both the shovel and the cap is bad I lean toward the whole lot to be bad. Does anyone else have any other opinion?

Best regards

I think Gus was having a bad day. :-? I see nothing wrong with any of these items. The cap has an interior with fine papercloth stiffening and a piece of civilian cloth for a lining. Both, I think, are typical of wartime manufactured items, and yes these caps were still being made during the war.

Wartime officer's tunics could have breast pockets. It was not unusual at all and was pretty much up to the tastes of the individual.

The photo you show is of Germans, not Austrians.

I do agree that the shovel is not of the period.

Hope this helps.

I think Chip is very right... and the light weight uniform is a cotton officer's summer uniform.
Here's another one for comparison...

Adler

Very nice display Adler, unfortunately I missed out on the deal as I didnt manage to find out the true value and couldnt give a good enough offer. but would have been an very interesting loot to own.
Cheers
