Hi dear friends,

Here you are ar ecent purchase that I really like, it's a postcard showing twoo uhlans with camo steel helmets.

Very nice and crips details!

This are, according to the back writing, Lt. v. Hake and Sergeant Rieke (Karl) near Cambrai. Not very sharp though, might be just a normal helmet.

I do not think that is their unhappy look, that is their fierce look, a good horseman would rather his horse be kept out of harms way when it gets right down to it.
These are some great photos, Ulan photos are not common, and cammo helmet photos are even rarer.

I think you have some "fierce" Bavarian chevaulegers rather than ulans in this last picture though...

I think you're absolutely right. Squared shoulder straps - double breasted tunic as opposed to a Ulanka, Swedish cuffs ... it should have been obvious in the first place :oops: .

The real tip off is is collar. Ulans have a standing collar and Chevauleger have stand and fall collars.
