Unfortunate news…

Hello all, it’s Jensen. I hope you are all well!

I have some sad news, regarding my military career and future…

I’ve been in basic training the past 10-12 weeks and have been working incredibly hard. I had a heat cat day one and recovered and continued on! Early into red phase I ended up breaking my elbow coming out of the latrine during a shower drill, I was in a cast and sling most of red phase and a bit of white but kept participating and completed several of the graduation requirements even in my condition.

late into White phase I sprained my AC joint in my right shoulder taking me out of action, I still completed the anvil ad passed the second FTX of training! Not long after this I had an abscess grow on my right cheek that had me on bed rest for an entire week. I missed the forge and the last part of blue phase, I was soon healed up enough to do combatives.

This is where things take a turn for the worst however, it was no secret that I had to be recycled since I did miss a good portion of training since I was on profile, I was ready and geared up to go! Then the company commander slammed EPTS paperwork in front of me…

They said I could ask to be retained or be discharged, I chose to be retained and continue with the recycle process but the battalion commander stepped in and said due to the medical history, which dated all the way back to 2015, he couldn’t in his right mind allow me to remain in service…

(The EPTS was for Anxiety, Depression and Asthma)

unfortunately, I have no say or control on this matter, I tried to fight it, my father included as well, but to no avail… they said that there could be possibility of re-enlistment within 6-36 months but is not likely due to the pre existing history.

This has been one of the biggest punches to the gut I’ve ever faced, my dream shot down before it even started. I’m not sure what’s next, what I do know is that I love this forum and I love all of you and I appreciate all the support these last few months.

I plan to try again if I can, but until then, there’s work to be done.

I love you all and everything you guys have taught and shared with me, I’ll keep everyone posted as more news comes in.

I'm sorry to hear that, Dane. I can't even begin to imagine how hard it was to be told such a thing. As James said, we're all here to support you!

She thank you brother, really means a lot. This has been tough but I ain’t giving up yet, thank you guys, really :~)

Sorry to hear your initial foray into the military didn’t work out as anticipated. Hopefully after some time you will get a second chance at fulfilling your career dream.

Until then keep your head held high and feet moving forward!

Aye certainly will Doug, thank you for the kind words and well wishes

Things often don't work out as you wished, but don't jeopardize your health.
Knowing what I know now; signing in for the paratroops as I did, wasn't the best descision, I took back then....for my back, right now!!! ;-)

Aye, that’s what my family has been telling me too. My fiancé is worried about me health for sure.

We’ll see what the future holds!

I am very sorry to read what you have told us.
Brother, we are all with you.
Sometimes life reserves bitter surprises (unfortunately in these last months I have been through many of these beatings almost knocking me out), but do not get discouraged and continue to fight as you have done so far. No matter how things go, you will know that you have done everything you could do and you will come out of it with your head held high.
Zeb.

Dane,
I just came across your update, and your setback in you the U.S. Army’s basic training. It sounds like you have had a setback but it seems you have potential opportunity to return. Take a very close look to any and all documents you received to determine any hidden issues that may work against your
My experience with Uncle Sugar’s Army, thirty plus years, and I know just about anything can be waived and an exception to policy can be given for a problem. You might have certain military occupation skill based on what issues the military say you have that close out a desired MOS.
Feel free to PM me if you have any questions.
Best of luck.
John
