Hi guys,
First of all I would like to wish all members of the pickelhaubes.com forum Merry Christmas :santa:
I have got a new item in my collection and I would like to hear your opinion about the unit markings which are a bit confusing for me.
What I have got it seems to be a very old German hatchet (axe) carrier. In my opinion it could be from Franco-Prussian. Please refer to the attached photos below:
Sorry for the quality of the photos I can make much better if you need in next few days.
As you can see unfortunately the front flap is cut off but it look like it was done in the past but it does not change the fact that the carrier is awesome I know how difficult is to find pieces like that.
Similar carrier I found here on photo from 1883
Fellow with pickelhaube have identical buckles on his chest also the hatchet handle is clearly visible behind.
However my main concerns are about the marking. To be honest I am a bit confuse.
Please let me know what do you think about these stamps and help me identify them?
Regards, :santa: :reindeer:
